SHADOWJACK'S GUIDE TO BATMUD EVENTS
I do not take any take any responsibilities regarding the accuracy or
exhaustiveness of this guide. If you have any corrections and/or

Events not covered: gazgo, jade statue, lamp event
The bank robber steals money from the bank accounts of all the
players logged on.
The event ends if the bank robber is slain.
Help blood bath. If you logged in after the event began, you will
be a blood ghost.
After the event ends, players who were not killed by NPC's
(monsters, figurines, etc.) may pray without ill consequences.
Chuckles does unexpected things to players who run into him.
Clones of all the players on the mud appear and begin kicking your
ass. The clones do not go away until they are killed or the mud

DARDECHION (aka Dardick):
Dardechion arrives in town and begins turning players to stone at
random. While stoned, players cannot do anything except use the [bat]

Small fungus are scattered througout the town. If left
unmolested, the small fungus continue to grow until they become large

GOD EVENT (for lack of a better name):
Various gods of various pantheons may become pleased or displeased
with you. Depending on your alignment, you may gain bonuses or
penalties when this event is run.
This event is unique because it can be started by players. First
type `friends -w' to list the wizards, and find the wizard with the
shortest idle time. The higher the wizard's level, the better.
To start the event, type `20 tell <wizard> begin godly fire!',
where <wizard> is the name of the wizard you have selected.
You will be rewarded with an awesome pyrotechnic display.
GRIDBUG (aka Gridwars):
This event is difficult to explain. The event is located on the
west side of town. (Use the `map' command while in town to find it.)
There are instructions at the game room.
HALLUCINATION (aka cloud):
A hallucination gas blows through the town, and players who inhale
the gas fall under the effects of the hallucination spell. (Help
Hallucination will wear off with time, and the event ends when the
gas disperses itself.
MAGIC EATING CLOUD (aka cloud):
A magic eating cloud enters the city, which effectively multiplies
the spellpoints needed to cast spells.
The event ends when the cloud is finally killed.
Multicolored demons arrive in town and steal money and items from
players. Note that this is not always an event -- players can also
summon multicolored demons on their own.
METEOR (aka undead):
A meteor crashes in a random location somewhere in the world. The
location of the meteor is given when the event starts. Corpses from
monsters you kill will turn into aggressive undead monsters within
seconds if you do not dispose of the corpse in some manner.
The meteor can be destroyed to end the event.
I leave it to you to learn more about this event.
I'm not going to say anything about this event, other than if you
don't know what you are doing, you can make a lot of enemies.
MOWGLES FROM HEAVEN:
Mowgles fall from heaven to town. Self-explainatory.
NEGATIVE ENERGY ELEMENTAL (aka meteor):
A meteor crashes in the central square, and begins draining all
the players' experience at intervals. There are sorcerors which
wander the town, who need to be killed to retrieve rods. The rods are
then inserted into the meteor, which releases the negative energy
elemental which must be destroyed.
Orcs begin raiding the town.
The event ends when their point of entry is sealed.
Big fat pigeons waddle about town.
POTATO (aka hot potato):
Hot potatoes have escaped from the Celestial Kitchens! Get rid of
it before it explodes, covering you with spud goo! If such disaster
befalls you, you are eliminated from the event.
The event ends when there is only one survivor.
Rats flood the streets of the town. Bring the corpses of the rats
to the rat collector. Type `map' while in town to find the rat
Road blocks are erected throughout town due to construction.
These road blocks prevent movement in certain directions.
The event ends by itself.
Robin Hood steals items from the rich and distributes them to the
poor. If you are of those fortunate players whom Robin donates to,
you will probably also earn the wrath of the player whose item you

A disgruntled rust monster roams the town.
To end the event, kill it.
Find Santa Claus in town and sit on his lap, and he will give you

Shapeshifters roam the town, disguised as other players. The
shapeshifters' guises change at intervals.
The event ends when all the shapeshifters are killed.
Self-explainatory when it is run.
A shoplifter steals items from one of the various stores.
Snowballs keep falling from the sky. You may pick them up and
pelt other players. The first player to reach the goal wins.
Players get points by stealing the flag of other players. You are
given a belt when the event runs; examine the belt for further
Vikings invade the town, and must be driven off.
I leave it to you to discover how to end the event.
WHITE ORBS (aka newbie orbs):
Players are given white orbs which they can hand to players of a
higher level. The person receiving the orb loses experience, and the
person who handed out the orb gains that experience. Successive
hand-offs exchange more and more experience points.
Note for newbies: You will be player killed without mercy if you
dare handing an orb to high level players! The best thing to do is
just toss any orbs into the trashcans in the town shops.
Help event worship.
Players can bid their own xp into an xp pool. The more players
who bid xp, the larger the pool gets. The winner is determined
randomly, based on xp bid. (The more xp you bid, the better your
chance of winning.) The winner wins a large percent of the xp pool,
and the leftover xp is held over until the next running of the event.
Zhentorians invade the town and close some of the shops. The
wizards can control the zhentorians.
The event ends when the captain is slain, but the zhentorians
continue to wander about until all of them are killed.
A statue of Zonni appears in OCP. (South of town.) You can look
for parts to put the statue back together.
