Greetings newbies, when i first started on batmud, it was very hard to get
anyone to help me. That is why i have decided to write this book, enjoy.
Welcome to the "humble" residence of BatCity. If your reading this book you
must have either 1.) Found
a library
                                                        2.) Or found a copy
somebody had thrown to the ground. Anyhoo, you got my book somehow and your
reading it, and i thank you for it. Here are some things i think i know about
how to survive in batcity. If your a fresh newbie you might want to go a few
routes to get some exp and equipment, lets start out at the starting position
(exit the Library, go south all the way, then west all the way, then north
once, then west twice.) from here, go east once, then north twice. You should
be at Damograns. He will help you for a long time. Type 'list' and hit enter,
see anything you like? Well considering you cant use much of it, i wouldnt
take anything yet. Type inventory to see what you were given at the starting
of the game (this differs from the background and race you choose.) you might
have a weapon or clothing item, you might not, wear some of the things you
have. When i started i had alot of stuff. You probably do too. There should be
things like an ancient paper or something, thats something you dont want to
wear. Well wear what you know is a clothing or item thing, and your on your
way, go south twice and west once, then south a couple of times until you get
more options like west, east, etc. You might stumble upon an acolyte, i
wouldnt recommend battling him until you find a party, which is normally a
good idea, just go to the starting location and ask away, or you could use
the wanted channel and ask for some high leveled adventurers looking to help a
newbie. But if this fails, then your going to want to go south and wander
around south of the starting location and find a monk or two, type kill monk,
and when you start to get low on life hurry and run back to the starting
location and heal, then repeat. This should weaken him and he should
adventually die. Now if you want to risk something, then go all the way south
of the starting location and type 'up if youve been reading we are in the
temple in the church (sorry i accidently pressed enter, messed up my book,
rats.) type north and wander around, wandering is an important skill in this
game, as long as you can remember your way back. you should stumble upon some
priests or monks. Type 'kill monk' or 'kill priest' to begin the fight, then
watch your life carefully. When it starts to go down to a low number run away
very fast, down the steps, and north all the way then south once, unless yu
want to just waste time counting steps. Repeat until the priest or monk dies.
Please note that they dont just sit there, they will walk around, so you might
lose your enemy, thats ok as long as nobody else killed him your still fine.
Type 'exp this should bring up how much experience you have gotten
from...killing...things (yes i messed up my book again) once that number goes
over 500 your ready to advance and this book is almost finished (thank god my
fingers are killing me) go to the starting location and go east 3 times, then
south once, then type 'advance' and your at level 1!!! Now type 'show spells
(i must be tired, my book is suffering, better end this soon) now type 'show
spells' these are all the spells your character has earned, many races are not
very magical, more powerful, so dont get disapointed if you dont have any yet,
it will come. One way of telling how magical you are is your "SP" yes, that
thingy next to the "HP" man i should have said this a long time ago. "HP" is
health points, this is your health, when it gets low you better run. "SP" is
spell points, some others call it magic points or mana, i call it SP but im
just an idiot. When your SP gets low its a good idea to slow down with your
spell casting, if it starts low then you are not very magical, but every race
gets magic some time. I think. If you are a giant or a cyclops, dont invest
too much in spell casting, it wont get you far. Well that should be about
enough to get you started, i dont recommend freely roaming the city until
level 5-10, at 16 you can join a guild. There are other books about guilds,
well, good luck Newbie, happy mudding! (mudding refers to playing BatMud or
other Muds.)
