Due to the fact that Templars are mostly played by meanie highbies who share info rarely,
I decided to start this thread to gather some info on the guild. :)
If you have any info just reply to the thread and I'll edit this post to keep it up to date.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Templars are a highbie guild. For them to work you need tarmas or monks, or both.
Due to the low hpmax of greligs, templars do need a con boon if any eq is attempted.
A good templar can have 100/100 dodge/parry and 900hps, while providing rescue, leadership,
party heals and a life link. All in all, templars are more of a defensive guild which are good for exp and eq.
They can be used in offu parties too as a healer if they have a decent dam eqset.

Quests:
  • Kill a certain amount of evils in a certain time. Gives Knight of Holy War title and Holy War aura. Ask Kraegor for more info.
  • Ask Kalas in the guild. Need certain amount of rep to be able to try. Gives Defender of Faith title and Protective Faith aura.
Skills and Spells:

All templar skills work only against evil opponents.
  • Stance of the Righteous: Defensive skill that works in a party. Once started, the templar will tick hp/sp/ep and gain +avoid at a growing rate each round in battle. Quite nice to have.
  • Bless Armament: This spell is cast on your weapon. Lasts for about 30minutes and enables the use of the Holy Strike skill.
  • Holy Strike: An offensive skill that does a bit more damage than a normal nomad off-skill? Works only on evils and does more damage the more evil the target is.
  • Holy Smite: Bonus damage with Holy Strike (like pulverize is bonus to pound)
  • Prayer: 'Use prayer at list' to see available auras. 'Use prayer at auraname' to load aura. 'Use prayer' to pray to Faerwon, might reward you with
    hp/sp. Also gives +rep.
  • Protection by Sacrifice: When used by a templar it can only protect a good target (differs from nomads).
  • Holy Blaze: Area against evil (including party) that can supposedly stun. Seems useless!
  • Laying on Hands: Drains your sps slowly but targets in same room heal hp/ep at a growing rate. Can do on self, but probably considered selfish by Faerwon.
  • Shield of Faith: General prot spell, protects vs. evil. Little bit of negative rep for casting on self.
  • Blessing of Faerwon: Offensive buff spell vs. evils. Little bit of negative rep for casting on self.
  • Holy Warfare: Templar mastery 1
  • Righteousness: Templar mastery 2, decides ranks.
  • Divine Enhancement: Makes your shield protect better vs crits. Enables Holy Blaze.
Auras:
  • Holy War: (A white aura with vengeful golden spikes radiating outwards) An offensive aura that gives some offensive bonuses and bonus to holy strike.
  • Protective Faith: (An off-white aura reminiscent of granite) A defensive aura that gives some defensive bonuses. +avoid.
  • Holy Fury: (A dark yellow aura with leaping blotches of orange and red) Makes you aggro against all evil monsters and gives better offensive bonuses than Holy War.
  • Vigour of the Tempest:[/] (A bright red aura of vigour surrounds him.) Needs 50% Righteousness. Gives at least +hpmax and -spmax.
  • [i]Valor of the Righteous (A brilliant golden aura of righteousness) Needs 100% Righteousness. Gives at least +avoid. Else?

Guild and Trainers:
Guild is found in Desolathya. There are two trainers within the guild.
Continental trainers are found near capitals. Should show up as "h" on the map.

Ranks:
Top 3 Templars get ranks Valiant, Just and Wise.

Reputation:
Reputation is mainly gained by killing evil monsters. Templar skills might give some rep too.
Reputation saves a bit over reincs, how much depends on how happy Faerwon is with you when you reinc out.
'Prayer' will give you a hint of how happy he is.

Additional info that I know of:

Skills and Spells:
Protection by Sacrifice when used by a templar can only protect good target. Might be others that work like this (different for templar than nomads).
Holy strike - does more damage the more evil the target is.
Holy smite - bonus damage with holy strike (like pulverize is bonus to pound)
Holy blaze - Area against evil (including party) that can supposedly stun. Never worked for me, useless!
Prayer - Using prayer every so often with no target (not too often!) nets a little +rep. Also, will sometimes tell you how happy Faerwon is with you in general.
Laying on Hands - drains you sps slowly but target heals hp/ep slowly. Can do on self. Without it or some other ep regen source, templars have trouble regenning ep.
Shield of Faith - General prot spell, protects you vs. evil. Little bit of negative rep for casting on self?
Blessing of Faerwon - offensive buff spell vs. evils. Little bit of negative rep for casting on self?

Quest/Titles:
2nd quest gives Defender of Faith title I thought. If not, then there's an additional title between defender of faith and high templar.
High Templars are 1 out of every 6? templars who have completed both quests. There's a poster or something (search around and look at everything) that says numbers. Pretty easy if you're active since includes all those unactive templars too.

Aura:
Holy War becomes available after 1st quest
Protective Faith becomes available after 2nd quest
Holy Fury becomes avalable when you achieve High Templar rank

Other:

First quest gives knight of holy war title and you can use holy war aura, second quest gives defender of faith title and you can use protective faith aura.

So there are High Templar slots for 20% of Templars, not 1 out of every 6 or top 6, but 1 out of 5. Aaaand yeah, you can be High Templar only if you have completed both quests.

Hot tip: Holy Fury aura is excellent for soloing rep. Just remember to avoid big evil mobs in cities and such -- I ran into a disintegrating shopkeeper in Arelium just a few days back.

Oh and about the quests: first one is easily soloable. 2nd one requires perhaps a 2- or 3-man.
