Just chilling here at work wondering ways to connect bat when telnet connection didn't work and a thing just crossed my mind. What happened to those nifty (compared to raw telnet) Java clients old web pages used to have?

Did new pages&batclient eat those or are those still in there somewhere. Would appreciate url from someone so could test if those would work. :)

Also could take tips "how to past firewall for dummies" for those not so busy days. Telnet seem to be blocked by firewall and well installing anything or even plugging something to usb is quite much out of the equation.

Help me steal few mins from my employers time! *wink*

Yours sincerly,
Zerks

Companies many time offer some connection out like ssh or so through some gateway. You can use that to connect some outside server and use telnet from there or then just make a firewall request to open telnet port from some server or machine you can access in intranet.

You can try telnetting to batmud.bat.org:2023 as those high ports are less likely blocked for outgoing traffic.

Heh, thanks all for tips and ingame tells concerning this.

Seems my telnet traffic is blocked on all ports (well at least the ones i tried). Also couldn't come up with program that I could use to connect user defined server (with ssh etc connection). And well my imagination isn't smooth enough to go explain why I would need telnet ports open in my accounting work :)
(And I aren't some computer wizz who could crack this easily, fast and safely!)

Lets see if I figure this out in next few months... or just do those darn works I was paid to do ,)

Sincerly,

Website "Java Telnet" is back again at http://www.bat.org/telnet

Please be reminded that this is nowhere near as functional and cool to play BatMUD with, as the Official game client: http://www.bat.org/play/batclient

cool, but that's still a java app that's going to originate the connection from his/anyone other viewers workstation am i correct? it's not going source the connection from bat.org ...if so that's not a nice thing to have public.

first poster: does your work filter RDP? if not, setup your home network to NAT port 3389 -> your workstation, enable RDP/unblock it via the firewall and just mud via RDP :)
