Some users have reported that Batclient can sometimes fail to load or start up after some time. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reproduce this problem. Other than that, you may have "ruined your installation" due to the many, many highly customizable features, by e.g. simply setting everything black. Thus, here's a quick way around to restore everything into its default form. These instructions have been written for various Microsoft Windows -platforms, but a similar approach should apply to any Apple Macintosh/OSX or Linux distributions as well.

Should the system for some reason fail to load up or run the free game-client, it is usually enough to remove the Java components of Batclient from your Java cache.

1. Removing Batclient from Java's cache (removing the installed components)

Action:
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Java -> View (Temporary Internet Files) -> Select application BatMUD and click 'X' Remove selected items

Notes:
- Repeat the above step, should you have multiple Batclient installations visible in the listing. (These can appear, if you've downloaded the game client from e.g. different mirror sites.)
- Furthermore, you can browse under 'Show: Deleted Applications' to further erase any footprint of the installations under Java

For removing any of those awkward configuration -related mishaps, you can either edit the individual paramaters manually or brute force clean everything:

2. Deleting all customizations, scripts, macros and logs etc..

Action:
On Windows XP: Delete C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\My Documents\batclient -directory
On Windows Vista and/or later versions: Delete C:\Users\%username%\batclient -directory

Notes:
- You might want to save a copy of your batclient directory under different name (e.g. rename to batclient-old), should you have any triggers, scripts or macros that you wish to save
- %username% should work by default, but it reflects the "login name" with what you've installed Batclient on to your computer (usually not same as your character name)

Performing the two simple steps above should have gotten you rid of the installation. To run a fresh new install, continue with:

3. Reinstall BatMUD's game client

Action:
Download the client from http://www.bat.org/batclient/batclient.jnlp

Notes:
- The client auto-updates any time the administration issues a patch/new version. The mirror sites' downloads offered/available from BatMUD's game client webpage update slower on purpose
- Use this main download -link to always access/maintain the latest and greatest revision of our game client
