Free levels are levels which are used for joining or advancing in the various guilds of BatMUD. Guilds allow you to train new abilities, and also to improve those abilities as you acquire more experience. Upon reaching level 11, you are able to join your race guild, located at your race's shrine. (Note: if you haven't joined other guilds, you may use the shrine portal, located west of the adventurer's guild to take you there.) Once you have taken all the 5 levels in your race guild, upon attaining another level, you will be eligible to spend your next 'free level' to join one of several guilds suited to your character's background.
