I'm pleased to announce an application for searching the BatMUD world maps. It is available for Mac OS 10.4 only. Please let me know if it works for you (and also if it doesn't so I can get it fixed)!

Sounds nice. Any chance of having it for other platforms? :) Is it like the thing in BatClient where you put in an area name and it pans to that area on the map? Or what? :)

I can't promise anything very soon. Especially the user interface needs many changes for it to become a Linux/Windows/web app. There is a possibility though. I'm planning to publish the source code of the app; maybe someone wants to try porting it :)


Yes, it's similar, but with some differences. The web page (http://mry.fidisk.fi/batmap/) has some screenshots along with short user guide.

I'd be interested to see the complexity of the algorithm to find a route.

Thanks for the kind words. You can now get the source code from http://mry.fidisk.fi/batmap/files/batmap-source.zip. There is also Doxygen generated documentation. You probably want to check out BMGridSearch and BMMap classes. Route finding is done with an optimized A* algorithm (Here is one good article about A*).
