I mud from a slower system with a smaler screen. Here are some suggestions that make the client work quite well for me. Please feel free to add any that work for you.


Turn off alpha in all windows.

Turn off background images.

Use Java 1.5, I recently tried 1.6 and it was like mudding in porridge.

Turn off the map window when it's not needed.

Use monospace fonts in all windows.

Hmm, I have been using 1.6 all the way and the client is a bit slow. I wouldn't call it like mudding in porridge, but it's certainly slower than other clients I have used. My system isn't exactly slow (Win XP, amd 64 3000+, 3gb ddr). Can anyone confirm that the client is a lot slower on 1.6 than on 1.5? I don't really want to re-install java just to get the check it out.
