I was just wondering if BatMUD goes through a purge on each reboot. I made a new character one night, logged on to get a feel for the game, went through the tutorials, and then logged out until the next day. When trying to log on the next day, I was unable to. My character page still showed up, also. I ended up remaking a character (with the same exact name) and was able to log in again. I'm obviously past the problem, but I was just wondering how I can prevent this from happening again.

There was a hardware failure on the BatMUD servers last week. Some data was lost and they had to restore the state of the mud from old backups. So no, BatMUD doesn't purge old characters every boot. You just had some back luck :)
