If you are still (after clearing your Java cache) getting an error such as:

com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: http://www.bat.org/batclient/batclient.jnlp

Reportedly, this seems to happen for some users after e.g. an upgrade from Java 6 to Java 7 (or inter-Java version upgrades). The problem has been from our side tracked down to the Comodo and Zonealarm Firewall solutions, which seem to do something to block Batclient from starting up, even if Java has been specifically allowed.

Unfortunately, I don't personally have either Comodo or Zonealarm firewalls available, so I cannot offer a fix (replies to this thread welcome), but can at least say that the F-Secure Internet Security does not suffer of such problem.

If this doesn't help, try enabling direct connectivity in your Java Console instead of proxy, if that doesn't help either then next step: Clear certificate cache.
