Full Version: Transparency rendering on linux

This problem only affects those who have old hardware as far as I can tell. At least till Sun fixes Java's transparency rendering on linux.

The client looks the same on linux as it does on WinXP using Java JRE 1.5.0_06 and relatively new graphics cards on both. (Will test other versions of java later.)

However on an older computer with a ~4 year old graphics card it looks horrible, transparencies are white, with JRE 1.5.0_06, JRE 1.5.0_10 and JRE 1.6.0.

I'm using a Geforce 6600 GT and transparencies do bug for me on Linux with Sun's JRE 1.5.0_08, so I wouldn't say it's a hardware issue.

Keep in mind though, that this is client is also for new players. We aimed Phase 1 to have stuff so that the client can be used to play, not necessarily to please the hardcore player's appetite..but if all goes well, we won't forget you either! :D

I was surprised that the default channel in one of the windows was "bat" and not "newbie".

Thought I'd post this razor-sharp observation here before posting any already discussed ideas to the mailing-address :)

Also, I could not get the downloader to work in a Debian box... anyone else experienced this?
