Could this guild please put some kind of penalty to barbarians who voluntarily
choose not to participate in events who are unidle. All to often when an
event is about to start...i continue to hear responses like....i don't wanna
waste my time with that....doing other things....

Yo,
Imho carrot in this case is much better motivator than the stick.
People won't join for events cause it just isn't worthwhile. Nowadays
traveling there is kinda bitch especially if on first trip you forgot to chest
denied eqs and have to do it twice. Yes yes, i know about slabs but point is
still valid cause at least i have denied items like potion packs always with
me.
What comes to awards, events only give bonuses to people who have reinced and
haven't done those once/reinc guild quests from events. Other than that there
is just a small rep gain. This is hardly motivating to abandon what you were
doing, chestjuggle, drag your ass to arena and pray event starts and then do
those again to get back on what you were doing.
My suggestion is ->
Add temporary stat bonuses to barb events that last until the next time same
event is shouted out:
Bloodbowl: +20 str for winner, +5 to all participants
Critter hunt: +20 dex for winner, +5 for all participants
