Please let us know what melee damage type (general, cut, stab, bash) we're
being hit with.

These all come from the same weapon (claw):
Orc perforates you.
Orc rams you.
Orc scrapes you.
Orc eviscerates you.

'help armours' tells us we should sometimes prepare ourselves for the incoming
damage types. If we go by what it looks like are claws actually doing many
kinds of damage or are the messages just fluff that makes 'help armours' a bit
misleading?

It's confusing.

Please let us know what we're being hit with, add a toggle to 'battle listen'
to make the end result something like:
Orc perforates you. (general) <- just a guess, I don't know what it really
is

While at it it wouldn't be harmful to know what we're being damaged with in
general, fire and physical are pretty easy to discern from each other and it's
a bit weird our avatars really don't know this.

tl;dr Let us know what we're being hit with in melee (general, cut, stab,
slash) and/or in general (physical, acid, fire, etc).

It sounds like Huppu is asking for two things, one of which already exists.
Full length battle messages already tell you the damage type -- sometimes even
with colour. Shortened battle messages do not.

As for the attack type (slash, pierce, etc) that's a little trickier. In
theory, an experienced player with a catalogue of being hit in the face
messages could tell you which message means stab, which means claw, etc. But
only with some messages -- there's some overlap.

That said, what Huppu is asking for is cleaner, easier access to information
you technically already have. So it would be trivial for me to say "figure it
out yourself, Huppu" and move on. Except, Huppu makes a good point: this is
information that more players should have access to. You don't need to be full
barbarian, full crimson to know axes are _sharp_, for example, and I would
imagine even a bard, merchant or alchemist would know when they're being set
on fire.

So let me look into the (shudders) BatMUD combat code and see if there's a
direct way to do this, and more to the point, a simple way to turn it on and
off, since I imagine not everyone needs or wants the info. In theory, all this
will affect is the messages from combat, so I'm hoping it won't be hard to add
or break anything by its addition.
