1) Could someone please look into the tenticle rep for spawns after the 5
tenticle. Maybe it is the natural progression but it has not move at all and i
have made about 51 + a reinc so about 57M exp and maybe 3 to 4 x that in
untaxed party exp if that applies.

2) Could the spawn ep cost be drop some, at least change the controlled despawn
ep costs. I can understand the penalty for letting it drop during parting,
however i would think if you are actively respawning or despawning in a
controlled fashion you might catch a break.

Thank you for your consideration

Taylon

P.S. Any chance we can get our bite attack back?

I would like to add a comment about spawns not being allowed to eat normal
foods. This in itself was not an issue before we had all these stat bonus
foods and pills. Based on the implementation of the turbo food and stat pills
I would like to propose two options:

1) Allow spawns to part take in pills and easter eggs (special foods). Note:
we are able to drink potions.

2) Maintain that spawns can not eat food but recieve some sort of adjustment to
either their exp penalty, or general increase to their stats for the missed
opertunity to partake in food/pill stat bonuses.

Also could we please get an ep discount for the controlled respawn and despawn.
Despawn doesnt happen much normally at the end of a party for training but
seriously 250-300 eps!

Spawn gets 2 extra ring slots, some added damage hits, the maybe best
offuskill (can be used nude for good damage unlike most others) for a small
exp penalty. And you are saying they should get more suffeli???

Just my two cents...

Oh and not to mention the +tankstats +size too, almost forgot about those...

Small Exp penalty 25% is not small, multiply this by a racial penalty 20% for
minotaur and you end up with a .6 rate of earned exp per 1 point (60%). ( .75
X .80 = .60 )

I accept this penalty based on: 2 additional rings (which i had to earn), a
good attack skill based on tenticles, and an additional attack every so often
for the penalty, with more bonuses to slowly come.

This is my choice im not bitching about the exp rate by itself. I referenced it
as a posible offset to the implemintation of stat pills and specialty food.
Both of which came into the game after spawn form and can not be consumed by
the spawn.

All characters can get the same +++stats from taking a handful of pills every
hour:

1) Please allow the spawns to take the pills

or

2) Please lessen the penalties.

Maybe ask your friendly wizard to code a spawn-usable waterpipe in which you
can insert your pills to smoke 'm for stats?

The issue of loosing xp as spawn and not being able to eat foods/pills is
easily fixed. Dont use it then. A multitude of races do not get to benefit
from foods and pills. If you want to use them, make a reinc where you can eat
(in your case, since minotaur, use chaotic spawn at despawn works). Your news
post's seem to be 'give me all the candy without the rotten teeth' ... its
your option to use chaotic spawn.

I started spawning around 3 weeks into playing, and the exp loss is hugei make
less xp now than as a complete newbie because i spawn.

It isnt just the 25% exp penalty- its having to restrict ep using abilities
too, and being helpless after despawn (empty of eps).

As for 'dont use it'

Well i checked and there were 12 disciples on, only 3 of us were spawning so i
guess many dont use this now

Its even worse for a new player trying to GET to 5 tentacles, you have to play
in a detrimental way for a huge amount of time to get there, if id known how
much it would slow me down id probably have never started spawning.

There are many choices in BatMUD that might require you to sacrifice something
to gain something else. Spawning and losing exp rate as well the ability to
eat stuff and spend EPs now and then to maintain spawn form is one of them.
Shapechanging into owl/unicorn/other races as druid is another. You gain
+stats but lose exp rate and the ability to use any skills at all (can only
cast spells as owl for example, not use any skills).

There are lots of disciple tzarakks, aelenas, kharims in the game that use
spawn all the time so the downside is obviously not that horrendously bad. If
it was, people wouldn't use it. I understand that it can be very annoying to
spend that much EPs when you are exping. EPs that you need for killing stuff.
While soloing I can certainly understand why it may sometimes be better to
skip spawn. People usually don't shapechange to owl while exping either. It's
a great option in EQ parties tho, for longer prot times etc.

If you play certain races like vampire, thrikhren, troll, etc you also give up
some things to gain others. Some races cannot eat/drink, some races don't have
infra vision or they are allergic to water/sunlight, require water/light/darkne
ss to tick and so on. In return you get better stats, sp/hp/ep regen,
hpmax/spmax etc. The list is endless of bonuses you may get if you sacrifice
something else.
I am not saying spawn form is perfectly balanced as it is. Maybe it needs
tuning, I don't know. Some people obviously think the positives outweigh the
negatives. Otherwise we wouldn't see anyone using spawn form at all.
Just my opinion. /Cav

I think this is a nice thoughtful post actually

Ive talked to a LOT of disciples to find out how widely it is used, and yes
some do use it. A surprising number dont use it though which seems odd to me,
its akin to tzarakks not bothering with steeds.

To me it should not be debatable wether a guilds main feature is worth using.

The EP loss is a huge issue for players using spawn, its not just the ep cost
of spawning, its the huge ep loss of de-spawning if you want to train etc as
well.

Plus the tentacle strength seems completely random. One time i may get 3 strong
tentacles and 1 faint tentacle.
The next time i may get 4 faint tentacles.

When that happens i have to despawn, wait for eps, respawn and hope ive got a
half decent spawn ...thats a heck of a fair time just sitting around trying to
get a decent spawn.

Finally i know spawn has had a lot of tuning over the years and my strong
suspicion is it has been tuned based on those who have already got full rep. I
dont think the effect of tunes on newer players has been considered if im
honest.

For someone new to the game trying to gain that rep it is a terrible hindrance
to gameplay. Showing a measurable and signifigant loss of xprate and a small
loss of killrate.

Sure i could not bother spawning, but do we really want spawn to only be useful
to people who have been here 10 years?

That is to me akin to tuning tzarakk mounts to only be useful once you hit
chimera, or having entities only useful once gigantic.

Thanks

For me personally the main reason why I don't use spawn is not the ep cost
(although that one sucks too), but the -exprate. Right now the main priority
for me is to get enough xp to be able to afford two guilds, and that -25% is
too harsh for that, and the bonuses not worth it (at low rep anyway). If it
were 15% I'd probably be more inclined to give it a try.

I think if you did give it a good try the eps would be a bit more significant
to you though :D

It goes like this

1)full eps-> spawn
2) Damn- 4 faint tentacles
3) Despawn
4) Wait around for enough eps to respawn
5) Respawn- Wohoo i have a decent spawn so time to kill!
6) Oh wait, no eps, cant use attacks now
7) **some exping, hardly using attacks due to no eps**
8) Ok now i want to train something.....go to step 3

Im all for rep systems, and lots of things are minimally useful for a while,
but i think that spawning is a bit out of synch in that it a downright
hindrance for many months before becoming mildly usefull.

Anyway ive over posted today, apologies ill shut up and i think ill join other
newer players and just not spawn.

The solution is real simple.
1)full eps-> spawn
2) Damn- 4 faint tentacles
3) PLAY ANYWAY!

Imo the stat boosts from spawn are better than the slight extra damage
you make with tentacles anyway. And sure the -exprate isnt optimal
but you can't always have your cake and eat it too. Besides....
The cake is a lie!

I wasnt going to comment on this thread again as i feel like a spammer

Just to clarify

I am not in the slightest bothered by the xtra attacks, they are insignifigant

I am interested in clawed strike being decent however, and although i cant
document data (i dont have figures) observation shows, poor spawn = poor main
attack
