Just to post this in the right area.
Had a quick thought about new compass colours or variety of encounters.
I`m aware altering ship code brings.. madness etc. so. just thoughts.

The original, more conventional new ship ideas are reprinted on the bottom

-- Refugees : Non aggressive ship overloaded with refugees that is possibly
near to sinking already. If your ship has enough cargo space, you can haul
these poor souls to the nearest port.

--Slave ship: 2 potential types, aggressive crew with slaves to help with
rowing.. OR merchant with aggressive crew with slaves as cargo. In both cases,
same principle as refugees. Cargo space needed to transport them to the land.

--Home ship: A family crew that spends their life on ship. Potential trade
options and strong, self sufficient family crew in case of combat. Not a lot
of loot .

--Live ship: Many different possible types. Whale riders, Turtle riders,
animate ships. This is a can of worms, though it could be as simple as
a mage ship with golems instead of crew. Or instead of sinking the ship
prior to riding you.. harpoon the whale to death. you horrible person

--Undersea raiders: As a concept, I like the idea of sub ocean beneath the
earths surface. Potential raiders have come up somehow via a whirlpool or
a drow ship able to sink below the waves.

--World ships.: Ships that slip through rifts between worlds. In terms of
crew, anything goes. The potential for loot and otherworldly goods is there
too.

--Prison ships: 2 types, a slave ship style that uses convicts as rowers
instead of slaves or A ship transporting a crew of convicts to prison.

-Raiding ships, either Zhents or Vikings to keep in theme of the events.
Your crew happens upon a vessel who is intent on raiding some hapless
coastal town. Main difference would be soldiers on ship alongside sailors

-Plague Ship- some poor seamen have fallen to the curse of undeath. It
spread quickly through the crew, and the ship is now pulled along the
tradelanes.. waiting for some unlucky soul to happen upon them.

-Monster Hunters- These hardy souls sail the seas hunting the horrors of
the depths. Heavy fighters, ready with axes and harpoons to fight off
tentacles or worse.

-Fishermen. These are career fishermen and don't really have much to offer
in terms of fighting sport or booty. Kill them anyway?

-Luxury ship-Royalty. As soon as the we spied the vessel, we new it was
worth the trouble of catching it. It held its share of bodyguards and
soldiers but the wealth more than made up for the work to take it.

-Treasure Hunters- We thought them fishermen at first but they fought
back with much determination. A strong crew but they'd been using a diving
bell to search the wrecks below. We found more than enough to make it
