So I've been playing with updated-Nergal for a few months now - admittedly not
particularly actively, but still. Firstly, some numbers from testing:

- Whenever you summon a minion, all your stats get reduced by the minion's
stats, multiplied by a value in 0.7-0.55 range (rep-based). E.g. a minion with
50 dex will drain ~27-35 dex.
- If you summon two minions, the sum of their respective stats is used
(obviously).
- Minions won't drain a stat below a certain value (~37).
- If your stat is not high enough, the minion will drain it to the minimum and
its stat is reduced accordingly.
- There is an evolution node that switches the drained stats around:
dex<->int, str<->wis - so dex will drain the nergal's int and so on.

Now, some impressions based on playing around with these so far. These are
from the perspective of a "reaver with caster minions" build.

THE GOOD:
* The power level of the guild seems better now, as is the rep scaling of the
guild. There may still be issues at the top, and there's a good chance that
some crazy highbie will find some funky build, but overall we're *probably*
good as far as raw power goes.
* Stats are useful again - this is very important, as previously you could
have ignored your own stats entirely and they made little difference. Now,
they do matter. Maybe even too much, reaver/nergals now want all the stats.

THE BAD:
* Minions always drain all the stats, even those that are entirely useless for
the minion. So your blaster minion will drain str/dex/con, even though it has
zero use for it (other than some hpmax from con). As such, if you want a
caster minion, you want a race with the lowest possible con/dex/str and decent
int/wis.

* The new 'Twisted proxy' node is mostly a noob-trap, because you cannot turn
it off, and I can't really think of a scenario where you'd actually want to
use it. *Maybe* a priest/nergal with a tanking minion that never parties? At
any rate, the inability to turn this node off makes it a penalty, which is
weird given that the evolutions tree is supposed to contain bonuses.

* For the same reason, 'Adaptive supremacy' is now a very questionable choice
- it increases the minion stat(s) that you care about, but also the drains on
the rest.

* All the advanced caster races seem rather useless right now, because their
higher overall stats drain their master more, without providing any benefit.
Thrikhren is base-line and for caster minions, pretty much looks like the best
choice now. Same for the tank races, unless the nergal doesn't care about
int/wis.

A second post with some proposed changes follows.
