I agree that it would eat up resources unnecessarily but because there is no
autosave, not even before boot, I myself use a command that saves the blade
everytime I drain a soul. I would imagine other people have similar
commands/triggers so the problem already exists.

I would suggest you add atleast one autosave of the blades, just before boot
so we don't have to save the blade all the time just to be sure that the souls
we drained don't disappear. That wouldn't be too resource hungry solution.
