Would like to get at least some information from the powers-that-be regarding
the potential benefits of using a mount that you hatched and raised as
compared to the same animal that you just tamed from the outerworld. Right
now, it takes seemingly forever (as it should with drakes) to get the
hatchling to age, but there's generally no information as to what the benefit
of spending the time to unstable the hatchling, keep it fed etc.
In some of the early news posts, it was noted that you could use potions to
boost resists - which works, to an extent. I spent a fair bit of time getting
a breeding pair of drakes that match up well together, and can nurse eggs from
this pair for a few damtypes. However, there are damtypes that I can't nurse
(gives me a message about already at max resistance - when hatched they are
'defenseless' for these types), so even the ability to 'nurse' doesn't
eliminate limitations.

Just looking for some information/reason/motivation to log on daily to go
through the very long process of nursing/hatching/raising eggs - otherwise, I
just don't see the point

Fair enough. I won't get into the exact numeric mechanics, but I'll give more
info on the concept.

Basically, hatchlings and young mounts take on some of the qualities of their
parents, most notably resistances. If you have two adult chaos drakes which
are both highly resistant to, say, electricity, their eggs will hatch into
drakes with the potential for high electric resistance. If both are, say, weak
against psi, so too will be their kids.

Nursings and beatings allow the hatchlings to live up to their full potential.
It is not possible to have a mount with huge resists against everything, no
matter what you try. That's asking too much, and besides, you have barding for
that. But you can deliberately focus on one, maybe two resists (yes, physical
is what most of you will aim for first) to get their new mount into top shape.
The exact route you choose to take (nursings, beatings, or a mix) is up to
you, but having strong breeding stock is _definitely_ priority one. Weak
parents won't raise strong children.

The idea of hatchlings and young pets, besides an added RPG element, was
mostly created to allow beastmasters to have some player-player interaction,
namely, selling the new mounts. However, having a renewable supply of strong
(maybe not perfect, but strong) mounts isn't a bad place to be. Or you could
start a restaurant with your own cows, sell the organs to alchemists,
whatever. There are multiple "points" you can follow, some require more work
than others. If you see a reason you'd like to try, go for it. If you don't
want to spend the time and/or stable storage space, don't. Completely up to
you.

That said, I'm probably going to add a few more breeding mount types to the
list in the forseeable future. I am always open to suggestions. And also,
continue to report any bugs to me.
