This heavy metal blasts in my ears. Us Finns, we listen to heavy metal and/or Christian songs etc. etc. Erm. And we have rock'n'roll. There's some folk music too like Värttinä and the Kalevala Heritage CD. Folk music sounds different from heavy metal, which I believe is originally Indo-Europian. In Finnish music there are beautiful melodies, not too strong rhythm. Sometimes Dorian mode. Sometimes it sounds sad, sometimes beautiful. Sometimes it's just the same melody and rhythm sung over and over so the listeners would go into trance and believe everything the old woman or the old man sings about Väinämöinen (Wainamoinen) and fire and snakes and such.
