August 17th 2019. After a few years of twddling, reinc after reinc and whatnot I have decided the following: On this day I give myself 6 months to advance my character in a meaningful way (Quests, exp, items, cash, whatever) or retire permanently. No ifs, butts or excuses of any kind. We'll just have to see what will happen. Cheers.
%You are in the upstairs of a small house. There's a big bed, a mirror on the wall and a small armchair on the floor. You can see Edwin getting ready for a good night's sleep. Door to the room opens. %Winny says 'Father?' %Edwin says 'Hey, Winny. Shouldn't you be in bed already?' %Winny says 'Yes, but I asked mom why you only have a big toe on your right foot and she told me to ask you.' %Edwin says 'Hmm. Well, I guess you're old enough now to hear the story. Take a seat.' %Winny sits on the floor and starts listening to her father. %Edwin sits on a comfortable chair and starts the story: %Edwin says 'Years ago, me and your uncle Nipp found out about an old treasure that was said to be in an old wizard's castle.' %Edwin says 'Since I was a soldier and your uncle my helper, a squire of sorts, we decided to go look for the treasure.' %Edwin says 'We bought the necessary tools and equipment from Arelium, after which we headed towards the last known location of the castle.' %Edwin says 'After a couple days of uneventful traveling, we stopped at a big tree on the side of the road to spend the night and rest.' %Edwin says 'When I woke up the next morning your uncle was nowhere to be seen, so I made a campfire and started packing our gear while waiting for him when suddenly I hear this commotion coming from the forest. Then, a small squirrel runs out of the woods with uncle Nipp running and screaming behind it.' %Edwin says 'The squirrel ran towards me and ran between my legs, as Nipp picked up a small rock from the ground and threw it and the squirrel.' %Edwin says 'Needless to say, the rock missed the squirrel completely and hit me in the head.' %Winny says 'Is that how you got that scar above your eye?' %Edwin says 'Yes. Well, the squirrel got away and uncle Nipp told me that he woke up hungry and started to look for some food and that the squirrel was the only thing he could find.' %Edwin says 'Apparently he forgot that we had two backpacks full of food right next to our tent. That forgetful fool.' %Winny giggles quietly. %Edwin says 'Anyways. We continued our journey and not much happened, excluding Nipp almost hitting me with his dagger after he tried to swat some flies off his face while eating an apple.' %Edwin says 'After a few days on the road as the evening was getting closer, we noticed that a weird fog was coming over us.' %Edwin says 'We decided that we couldn't go on anymore, as we couldn't see anything in the fog, so we set up a camp near a narrow river.' %Edwin says 'That night I had a strange dream. Flashes of me and Nipp fighting a some sort of monster. What it was I couldn't tell.' %Edwin says 'When we woke up the next morning, it was still quite dark, but we could see that a strange, black stone castle had appeared not far from us.' %Edwin says 'I knew right away that this was the castle of the wizard that the people were talking about.' %Edwin says 'We approached the castle with caution as we were trying to find an entrance.' %Edwin says 'After a while we saw something glimmering not far away and as we got closer to it a small door appeared.' %Edwin says 'We readied our swords, looked at each other, opened the door and walked in.' %Winny says 'What then happened? What did you see? Was the monster there?' %Edwin says 'What happened then? Well, that is a story for tomorrow. You should go to bed now. %Winny says 'No! I want to know what happened. Please, dad?' %Edwin says 'No. You really should go to bed. I'll tell the rest tomorrow, I promise.' %Winny says 'OK, but remember that you promised!' %Edwin says 'I will. Good night, Winny.' %Winny says 'Good night.' %Winny leaves the room. %Edwin whispers 'To be continued...I guess.'
