Some time after the spell known as dispel magical protections was learned, it was decided a counterspell would be necessary, rest protection magic become useless. A spell was discovered through laborious research that was able to meld a protective spell onto an individual with enough strength that it could not be dispelled. All that is needed, is to cast the resistance spell before the protection spell, and that spell would be safely bound to the target.
