BatMUD would be a better place if for every "No that won't work because of X"
there was "No that won't work because of X, but (insert alternative suggestion
here) would seem to work fine." The point of my posts was to get a dialogue
among players (and wizards) and brainstorm ideas regarding these changes.

Heh ok regarding your original ideas, concerning time based skill/spells usage
as well. It sounded like you advocated a more dynamic casting/using time
system. I stated the problem was our timer is rather course. The only
alternative I can think of is to add some statistically variance to the cast
time. Let me explain:

Let's say a spell's cast time is 3 rounds. It would be interesting to
slightly modify that cast time by very small amounts based on certain things.
But since a round is the minimum unit of time, it could only be changed to 2
or 4 at the least. Clearly to drastic imho. But if it could be changed to
2.8 or 3.2, etc... that might be interesting. The only way I can think of to
implement that would be to say a casting time of 2.8 means 2 rounds + 80%
chance that it is 3 rounds. A 3.2, would mean 3 rounds + 20% chance it is 4
rounds.

We could code that no problem (I think), and it might could allow some really
minor changes to cast time based on various things.

I don't know if it would be a good idea or though, but feel free to comment.
