As there isn't really enough room for a vote that says everything I want to
say on the voting box, I figured i'd post here my general thoughts on the
boot time...

The nature of this mud is that there are quite a few things that are only
doable once/boot and are also very sought after things... with the static boot
time as it is now it is really unfair to those that aren't able to play at
that time...

Now, the question asks should it be made 5 EET? well, for me this would be
MUCH better... this is a great time for me personally to start playing, and i
would love if that's when boot fell (it's 10 am my time, so perfect for me
during the summer and on non-class days during the school year)... however the
problem with doing this is you still just have it benefiting one group of
people and being inconvenient for another...

I am a fan of an option which either makes it twice/day (thus giving you 2
chances of being able to be on for that once per boot stuff) but the problem
with this is that it would probably require tuning of certain monsters/quests
since they would be doable twice as often...

That leaves the 25 hour or rotating boot as an option... now this would
basically make the boot the same amount of time it is now, once/boot quests
would be done slightly LESS frequently, but to a barely noticeable degree,
thus not requiring any tuning, and everyone would have a time when the boot
came at an opportune (and also inopportune) time for them... in a strict
"fairness" sense, i think this makes the most sense... i can understand why
this isn't SUPER popular either though, as it requires you to be aware of when
each boot comes...

Finally there is something that is somewhat of a compromise between those 2
which is something like an 18 hour boot where the actual boot time would
change from day to day, but there would only be 4 times at which it could
happen (12:00 pm, 6:00 am, 12:00 am, 6:00 pm) so it keeps it more regular as
well...

Personally, I don't really care, I'd be happy with any type of system like
that... my main wish regarding boot is that it wouldn't happen just once at
exactly the same time every day.. because that is probably the least fair way
it could possibly be done.. anyway, that's my rant on it (i could barely fit
it into a news post... let alone the voting box! ... as always feel free to

This is sort of an addendum to Val's excellent post on boot time. Another idea
I had was perhaps switching boot time at different times of year. So maybe 12
hour difference during spring/summer and autumn/winter (just split months
jan-jun, july-dec or however). Alternatively maybe switch times 4 times a year
in 3 month spans. This had the advantage of changing boot time for various
time zones in world, but also not changing on a daily basis so you are always
trying to figure out what time boot is today.
