How about giving monsters claim-tickets. They would be used to add in names to
equipment that monster has. And these claim tickets would have names too, so
only the one who made them could use them.
This would at least help in some small way, so you shouldn't have to kill some
monster 15 times, just to get a random piece of equipment it has.
