There should be some time after getting an item during which the eq
doesn't take this non-named damage. Rationale: if I want to get it
repaired/protted/fwd/id, I need to give it to somebody for a while.

Alternatively there could be some pcity room option, which protects
from this detoriation. And preferably one such room in batcity too,
for official merchant business. I know thiefs will love rooms like
these
