Umm, even though this has been posted before and even though I understand the
reasons for the guild tune from bi-background to just magical, still, here\'s
my suggestion. I think the old way that civilized background could choose this
guild added more diversity to players in that background. Nowadays, the basic
combinations seem to be merchant(alch)bard and sabrebard, with the occasional
runemage thrown in for good measure. Even though civmage guild had a few
things upped (or do I remember wrong?) it still has seen minimal use. So, the
result is that civilized background playerbase went from being somewhat
balanced to being tank/merch oriented, with the blaster factor almost nil.
Personally I like the idea of having a versatile bard/channeller machine as we
had in the old days. And NO, this won\'t unbalance the game any, if the
civilized channellers would get a proper downtune. Maybe less mastery, and
even less spmax than before. I know it will require a lot of thinking on how
to balance it nicely, so the magical channellers won\'t disappear from the
game, but still I would cheer if civs would be allowed to join that guild
again.
In short: give us back civilized channellers even with significant downtune.
P.S. I recall reading an ideas-wanted post lately asking for a caster race
with decent wis, besides Ent. Still not seeing the use of making drow
evil-only, I vote to remove the meaningless restriction from their alignment,
so we would have that good caster race back.

would be nice to have other options than front row bard for civilized people who want to party
