Adding this into the news groups for visibilty. The anniversary gala
sign-ups are available "tell tigger info" and sign-up at Arelium's
Church.

WHAT?
Finally! We have battled Icelandic volcanoes, a global
pandemic and ingrown toenails, but finally we get to
celebrate BatMUD's 35-year existence in a more formal setting!
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
The 35th Anniversary Gala is a bit more formal occasion than
your usual con (think 'smart casual', or even 'black tie')
and the Administration would like to invite all players
to join us to celebrate BatMUD's 35-year career with your
fellow mudders.
The threshold to turn someone away based on clothing is
quite high, but please try and be respectful to both
the celebration as well as your fellow players. Dirty
sneakers and soiled shorts is not something you wear to
an evening dinner party, now is it?
WHERE AND WHEN?
The Gala will be held at Vanha Ylioppilastalo, Helsinki.
The venue is literally in the center of Helsinki (the
name translate to 'The Old Undergraduate House') in a
dignified, 150-year old building reserved just for us
for the duration.
The address is Mannerheimintie 3, Helsinki, Finland.
The doors will open at 19:00 on 14th June 2025, and
the last guests will be ushered out by 03:00 the following
night.
WHO?
This invitation is meant for all BatMUD players, wizards and
archwizards, active or retired.
If you know someone who you think definitely should be there,
relay the message!
AM I ALLOWED TO BRING MY WIFE/GIRLFRIEND/SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
Sure! It would not be a proper event without having your loved
one present! You're allowed to bring one additional guest.
When signing up, Tigger will ask you to indicate whether you
would wish to bring an avec. The avec will receive an NPC-badge
in the same envelope you receive yours.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
The Administration will cover all costs, including a buffet
dinner, some drinks and the programme during the event, as
a gift to you, the players and maintainers.
As long as you can get yourself there at the right time,
you're covered!
If you or your avec has dietary restrictions please drop us
an email at batry@bat.org with a list of restrictions and
we'll try to come up with a solution.
ACCOMODATION?
The Administration will try to negotiate a discounted price
for those coming from afar. Please stay tuned for the hotel
suggestions and potential discount codes!
HOW DO THE PRACTICALITIES WORK?
It's rather simple. You go to Tigger, sign up (don't forget
to enter your postal address!) and wait!
We will send you your event badge over snailmail well before
the event.
Please note that you won't be able to enter without your badge,
the bouncers will deny entrance to people without one!
In case the postal pre-delivery of the badge is problematic
for you, in rare and extraordinary cases we may be able to
bring it to one of the definitely-happening precons on Friday.

WHY THE TIMING?
Well... We thought long and hard about the previous Galas and
people shivering outside at the smoking place
Finnish summer is usually beautiful, and the event takes place
one week before Midsummer which is a huge thing over here.
If ever you wanted to visit Finland (even with your family),
this is the perfect time!
SOUNDS GOOD, HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Tigger is in Arelium Church, signing up players for the Gala.
Walk to him and use the '35gala'-commands to sign up.
The signups will be closed in the beginning of May 2025 in
order for us to order and mail your entrance badges.
Please note that the amount of people is limited - don't sign
up if you don't intend to come, and if you need to cancel,
please, PLEASE try to do it before the registrations close.
The Administration is paying real money for each participant
so no-shows have an actual cost for us, and by extension,
the game.
