This is a followup post on the suggestion that
BatMUD should participate in bidding on an icon
in ZMud.
BatMUD took part in Zuggsoft's ZMud Icon auction
for 2006, but unfortunately did not finish among
the top 10 bidders.
Basically what happened was that the deadline of
the auction was set at March 23rd at 0:00 EST,
which translates into March 23rd at 7:00 am EET.
At 03:30 am EET BatMUD was at position 6 in the
auction (which would have guaranteed us an icon
in Zmud) with no new bids in sight. At this time
I decided to call it a night, having work in the
morning.
A few hours later, several last minute bids were
placed (including raising some bids that BatMUD
had topped). As we did not have a chance to react
to these last minute changes, BatMUD consequently
fell to position 11. Incidently, this is a bigger
issue than BatMUD - on the icon list of 2006 there
will (based on a quick glance) only be MUDs with
US/Canadian administration.
I have sent some feedback on the matter to Zuggsoft,
but for 2006 there will unfortunately not be a
BatMUd icon in the startup page of ZMud. The idea,
however, was good and the submitter of it will be
awarded some taskpoints. Should You have other ideas
how BatMUD can market itself, please let us know.

30 [Wizard] Siitähän siinä on kyse. Kun ei ole väliä ollaanko ekana vai
kymmenentenä (tai noh, eka olisi ollut päälle 5000 USD:tä),
niin ei lähdetty korottelemaan bidejä. Varsinkaan kuin 3
tuntia ennen koko huutokaupan päättymistä, oli potissa vain
7 bidiä, eikä uusia ollut näkynyt viikkoon.
Nooh, sitä oppii. Kyllä mä itse asiassa pari kertaa jo
ihmettelin miksei Iron Realms ollut bidannut yhtään niitten
pelien puolesta, ja selvisihän se - niitten omistaja biddasi
viime hetkellä sitten kaikkien neljän pelin edestä. Ensi
vuonna pitää sitten hieman viisaampana toimia vähän toisin.
