Drow have always had some nice racial benefits. Drow also have one of the more
useful race guilds for non-rebirth races. When the alignment requirement was
added, we also got another excellent benefit added along with it.
I know it was disappointing for those who liked Drow for Tarmalen, but the
race is not limited to Evil Priests now. I did fine as a Merchant and Bard
(without boons) and I am sure other players can make use of the benefits of
Drow in other guilds, too--just no longer good-religious (although you could
be druid?).
(Remember, Drow do not -have- to be evil, they just can not be good.)
I did not say Drow was the best or most ideal race for everyone and every
guild. Yes, the skillmax is low, but skillmaxes can be raised for people
that want to. I do not need people to point out every positive and
negative of the race to me--I am familiar with them, and that was not what
my post was about.
My point was that Drow had some good stuff to begin with, and when the
non-good alignment requirement was added, they did give a benefit in
exchange. Yes, this may have downgraded some players (not allowing them to
select Drow for good relgiious guilds) but it was not a big downgrade to
the race.
