Why does it seem to me that almost all who whines about boons being too
powerful, are people that actually don't have even decent eq.
First get the eq and then start talking, and don't start whining that you
cannot make things without boons. No hands, no candy.
And other whankers, how many times this same conversation has been through
this year? Don't you ever get bored. Come up with the good ideas and stop
whanking in your mothers basement.
ps. eq's mean much more than boons ever could.

i have 2 sets taht are nearly worth 20m one gives me nearly 60 wis.. that
still small compare to some one having just one boon.. eq will only take you
so far.... fter that your stuck either donating or shelling out a stupid amout
of money for tps. so dont tell me taht eq is better than boons.. cause its
not.

For many years BatMUD has been running on hardware that has
been acquired with funds that originate from mortal donates,
and for which we are very grateful. Few non-commercial muds
(in the sense that we do not charge a mandatory continual
fee from our players) are able to boast which such an
adequate hardware pool for their purposes. As such, I think
it's only logical that we award the people who have
contributed out of the game to make BatMUD the success that
it is today.
However, there is a limit. I personally believe that every
aspect of the game should be playable by a person who has
donated absolutely nothing to B.A.T. ry - we are after all
a noncommercial game. There should not be a single guild
that is unplayable without boons, nor should there be a
single monster which is fundamentally unkillable without
boons IMO. Boons should bring an advantage to the people
who have them, whether they be because of bugreports or
donates, but no part of the game should be impossible to
take part in without boons.
The +con boon was tuned some time ago for exactly this
reason, and replaced with +con bonuses from societies.
This may (or may not) become the future with other bonuses
as well, depending on whether they are in-tune or not. We
value your input in telling us which boons, if any, are
absolutely out-of-tune, and we will use our common sense
in deciding whether to tune those boons or not. I believe
somekind of compromise can be found between both camp,
ensuring not only fair grounds to compete on, but also a
promising future for BatMUD as such.
So in essence - my own limit is that nothing should be
impossible to complete (in theory) with a non-booned
character. Ofcourse, things may be easier with boons
(whether they are temporary or not).
I'll be happy to hear arguments either pro- or con-
boons in the future, but please bare in mind that eventually
we will need the volunteer efforts of our playerbase to fund
the continual development of Bat - especially its hardware.

Way More Money than the hardware has cost, and I belive B.A.T. ry still
has \'loads\' of money they don\'t quite know how to spend. A high
powered PC however only costs up to like 5k euros(please don\'t quote me
on this;), and well, I personally know 5k euros sent that way and I bet
what I personally know is only the tip of the iceberg.

But the point - point is that even if boons were \'only\' +30stat,
+slight meta, +some ql, +5%resistall, +less_of_what_they_are_now, I at
least would still consider my \'investment\' (yes, it\'s a donate)
worth it. From the viewpoint of a minmaxer (to an extent) I see every
little bit helping, but it pains to see friends who don\'t have or
can\'t afford boons continually saying how they can\'t really make
relig tanks and expect to be able to do anything but solo/off with them.
But that\'s been said a few dozen or a million times already so I see it
having little effect... or was it that repetition is they key to success?

there is fastmeta eq in game. there are also ppl with iq +150. both rare.

No. My ~40M (+asmo ring another 30-50M) worth tank set doesn\'t mean
\'much more than boons ever could\'. They\'re approximately equal
I\'d say.
