Well, this is actually my point exactly:
With boons you can choose more interesting races to do interesting reincs.
This 'I couldn't be a templartarma without boons,not at all' is totally
ridiculous
With boons you can raise the skillmax and spellmax over that of nonbooned
wolfman easily, without the boons you would need (oh my GOD) more exp to take
them from ss OR - this is going to be horrifying - you would actually
_fail_ a bit more. About skillmax, well, you would have to spend couple of the
slots you have to parry and dodge maybe
The most important point however is, if you don't have boons, and don't want
to fail AND don't have experience for ss, maybe you should choose your race
more wisely, aka take human.
And you would have fewer hps, well, that truely something, your maxhp would be
around what, a hundred points less? There are shitloads of spells/eq which
will raise that hpmax to 2k when needed, now, compare 2.1k and 2k, what a
monumental difference, what has this world became of?

Unbooned human relig tank has what.. 700hp naked?(this was pure guesswork)
I have 959. It\'s not at all trivial to keep good relig tanks bumped to
2k hp at all situations, actually it\'s quite rare I get to 2k hp
without unpain/demon which more often than not are not available for each
run.

I don\'t think I\'d even take an unbooned hybridtank to do serious eq
monsters in front row unless the individual had KILLER eq set. And getting
a KILLER eq set is not simple enough so you could argument and say \'so
get one\'. It takes years getting wished +10con to all slots and two
asmo rings and few other best physres items.

I just find it odd why people can\'t admit that boons are and probably
always have been an EXTREME power up to a character. Hell, to counter my
boons with eq you need:
+10 all resists (hmm, takes 8 slots or so).
+40 or so str (4 slots)
+75 or so dex (7.5 slots)
+55 or so con (5.5 slots)
+5skillmax (let\'s say 4 ss levels)
+16spellmax (let\'s say 13 ss levels)
+75 or so wis (7.5 slots)

Not sure if I forgot something, perhaps. So that my \'not too
powerful\' upgrade via TPs saved me around 32 eq slots(for fun you can
count how many even barsoomian has) and 17 ss levels. You say what you
like, I say that\'s too much.

can You have a billion boons, average fairly old player has maybe 1-3.5. That
isn\'t that big boost (ok it is big but easily overcome with a good
eqset) anymore. If you don\'t want to keep your boons you can always
sell the taskpoints - bueno, problem solved.

That Ok let\'s take 3.5 boons.

That\'s \'in theory\' 23.6 slots (if you conut 10stat/slot).
Although the usefulness of str and dex for a caster can be argued. But
anyhow approximately the benefit of 20 slots of items for mere 3.5
boons.... You can easily overcome this with your eqset. You do understand
that this guy would have more stats naked than you have with your eqset
on? You can\'t overcome it. You can extremize it and get more int but
you\'ll be lacking on the wis/con side then...
