party say *has caught a heal all.* party report Yeah, Blayke, your post just
confirms what i said in mine. Higher level players are either fairly content
with the tune or hardly noticed it at all. Sure, you'll say levels aren't
everything, and i'll agree. But let's get down to cases: how many guilds do
you have, how much exp spent on skills already, how many boons and what kind
of an eqset do you own? And then compare that with a run-on-the-mill lowbie or
midbie. Oh, and what size monsters do you routinely kill? You conform to my
definition of super uber. So far the only negative replies to my flame i got
were from players of level 100. I wonder why? I might want to see the opinions
of mid-level players, if they disagree with it, and what they base it on.
Sure, rocking is a skill, it has to be learned, but all i am asking is not to
be forced to suck. I am not asking to a downgrade of your favourite monsters,
but an upgrade to the tune in lowerlevel areas. Peace.

Ok, I think I definatly don't count as uber and I've had no problem whatsoever
getting solo exp with the tune. When the personal tune went in, my
exp rate went up about 25% - 30% or so. When it was tuned again, it
dropped maybe 15%, leaving me a net plus of 10%-15% over pre-personal
exp tune.

Now, what's the key to me maintaing my rate? 46% explore. I try hard
to learn the mud. The tune forced me to adapt and expand my normal areas
from 3-4 to 6-7. Sure, it takes more work than it used to, but exp is
still plenty easy to get. I'm sure I'm not the most effective exp maker
at my totals out there, but still effective enough.

As for parties, rates are comparable when I'm actually in the mood to
lead. If I'm not, it depends heavily on who I'm partied with. Some
people just haven't learned to adapt and therefor suck at leading exp
parties now.

FYI: My reinc before this where I was actually tanking was from 8m to
16m as a Shadow Sabre. I think this qualifies me as plenty low. As a
side note, I found sabres to be about as effective as ranger and more
fun too!.

Yay, replying to myself. Since a lot of the whining had to do with parties,
I figured I'd make one more comment regarding parties.

The tune has magnified the difference between a good leader and a bad leader.

In my opinion, this is not a downtune. Good leaders are doing fine. It's
rewarding good players. Nothing wrong with that.

Note by good I don't mean high totals or what not. I mean knowing the mud
and being able to adapt, at any level. Leaders especially need to be
adaptable.

Well, I have to say that being worth 12M definitely does not count me as
uber. With that in mind, when I\'m so inclined, I am an uber leader, I
keep up a decent rate, I know what I\'m doing, and I make sure we have
fun in parties. Pick an area, solo it, learn it and the mobs in it, and
then have at it.

And as for 2 tanks and a tarm? pfffft. :P That\'s just bullshit. Any
combo of tanks/blasters + a tarm works for a good party. Personally I
prefer a blaster/tarm/tank party as a rule for quick exp. The tune
hasn\'t affected me negatively in the least, the only reason I\'m not
worth more is that I\'m a lazy shit and more inclined to idle and spam
my ss+ channels than actually do any work.

I\'m actually doing more exp now hitting the areas I know as a loc than
I did in April in the same reinc with more exp.

So tell it to the whinemaster and leave it out of flame, you\'re boring
the shit out of me.

First off, I'm a midbie or lowbie or whatever, and I have found that over the
past few weeks, the tune hasn't affected my rate at all...

Secondly, you commented that "usually a party is 2 tanks and a healer"...it
has always been the case over the history of batmud that things will change.
The players who can adapt and find a better party layout/formula/whatever will
succeed, and the others will sit back, whine in news, try to keep doing things
the old way, and not get anywhere in general. If 'the normal way of doing
things' doesnt work any more, then try the abnormal way of doing things! Maybe
add a mage. Maybe try 3x tank, 1x healer...whatever. You complain that lack of
finding a good leader reduces your exprate? Then go explore areas, and get
some friends together and teach yourself to be a good leader.

It seems that with bat, when the going gets tough, the weak/unadaptive/whatever
get whining...

Just for the hell of it, and it proves nothing I admit, I compared saldas exp
gain to blayke for last 30 days, seems saldas had 13% exp gain and blayke 2%,
that's all I had to say obviously conclusions about what that means are left
to the reader.
