kirahvi+ say It has been suggested that some biological processes are
equivalent to computation,
but quantitative evidence for that view is weak. Plants must solve the problem
of adjusting stomatal
apertures to allow sufficient CO2 uptake for photosynthesis while preventing
excessive water loss. Under
some conditions, stomatal apertures become synchronized into patches that
exhibit richly complicated
dynamics, similar to behaviors found in cellular automata that perform
computational tasks. Using sequences
of chlorophyll fluorescence images from leaves of Xanthium strumarium L.
(cocklebur), we quantified spatial
and temporal correlations in stomatal dynamics. Our values are statistically
indistinguishable from those of
the same correlations found in the dynamics of automata that compute. These
results are consistent with the
proposition that a plant solves its optimal gas exchange problem through an
emergent, distributed
computation performed by its leaves.
You REALLY don't want to spam mud that much.
the above was a single line. Now i need to wrap it before pasting. whine

and while at it, please make news obey cutter too?

Yeah, and make webnews not obey it :) Most of the messages (those posted from in-game), wrap real bad on web as there is forced linefeeds, which usually kick-in just after the line has been wrapped by browser, so most messages look like

wegwge gew wgewgwe w wegewgwegwgwgewewg
wgeeg
egwegwgwgewegwegwegwgwe g wg wew ew gew wge
wegwegw

And yeah, its gibberish :)

Add it to my personal webnews-whine list, and fix it someday, please. Thanks.

I can not enforce cutter on news, it will screw up the formatting made from
within MUD. and on the web, the wrapping is a _pain_. For now it'll remain
intact until i think of a better way to do this.

Well why isn't *ALL* formatting in mud done by cutter / so that it obeys
cutter. (I.e. strip ALL the fucking "
" from formats - just make all print functions print the
at the end of the message...)
oh this seems to substitute backlash-n with a newline. Fun.

Why on earth one would recode _everything_? I'm not gonna do this now. Period.
