Some items, such as the Paingiver axe, change their own quality and as such
will undo any merchant upgrades. There's no one-size-fits-all code I can apply
to change all of those. If you get a complaint from a player whose eq lost its
upgrade effect, probaly a weapon that upgrades itself over time like the
Paingiver, let me know so I can manually fix those one at a time.
