Compasses are great, and If i ever get my class 2 raft out of dry dock I might
try a 1 gemmer. They are a great reason to use ships for non-intercontinental
travel.

Since Compasses give people a reason to use the sprawling ocean, how about
having something similar implemented for the wonderful land based out-world
that we have. As at the moment it's just an obstacle for getting from area to
area.

Have some mobs drop messages/maps that are equivalent to compaseses. These
could be ranked 1-6 as compasses are, and could also have an alignment base.

For example:
A "1-gem" good align message could be the details of the local
orphanage picnic. A "6-gem" good aling could be the secret order of
most holy nuns pilgramage to the sacred tree stump of ST Needanax.
