It's true!

The Hiking event has been fixed up and is now here to stay. A few notes about
it:

1) It can potentially take place on any continent. The first checkpoint will be
with the Ranger trainer for that continent.

2) Venturer's Way is no longer disabled for the whole MUD during the event. It
will be disabled if the caster or someone in the same room as the caster is a
participant in the event (participant = marked at least one checkpoint).

3) The event has received some emphasis on hiking skills, and some
anti-cheating measures have been put in place. Basically, if you stay in the
outerworld, you should be fine. Things like teleporting, using pathfinding,
hopping on a ship, or trying to duck into a player city or area (either
intentionally or by accident as you recklessly slam directionals into your
keyboard) will disqualify you for the remainder of the event.

4) The fruits and penalties to the event remain the same.

I forgot to add that mounts are banned. You will also be disqualified if you
hop on one and try to ride into the sunset.
