Xyloid reminded me of when I became an arch, so I thought I'd post the story:

It happened in 1997 or so, and I had absolutely no idea that I was going to
become an archwizard or that anyone had even considered/discussed it.

I logged onto Batmud, and I received a bunch of tells from players telling me
congratulations. I figured Durand was playing tricks on me, so I started
checking channel logs, echoes, etc. but I didn't find any evidence and Durand
was pretty idle anyways.

The tells kept coming in, and now even my friends were congratulating me,
so I figured SOMETHING was going on. I forgot who I asked, I think it was
Cosmo, why is everyone congratulating me?? and her reply to me was
"finger yourself!"

So that's how I found out I had become an archwizard.
