Yes, the game would be more balanced if there were no boons. And
it would be easier to tune. Also, it wouldn't exist, as there wouldn't
be a fast enough comp to run the game, and the old comp would long ago
have broken down. I'd say existence of boons is a small price to pay
for the possibility to play this great game, with or without them.
