I want to be able to mud from my cellphone.
You can. You have few choices. Either you wait until BatMUD
enables ssh-access straight to their servers, or you install
somewhere a linux-box with sshd (it usually comes with it automatically)
Then you get a phone that supports putty, for instance a symbian 60.
A lot of Nokia's phones use that. I suggest Nokia E70 or E61, they got
full QWERTY-keyboards. Then you just ask from your network operator
to enable a dataline for your sim, connect from your cellphone (via
putty) to your linux-box, and start TF from there and voila, you're in.

I do that everyday when I'm on the road or have to wait something.
I also suggest using a program in your linux called 'screen'.
In short, when you close your cellphone and go to your computer, you
can transfer your desktop what you saw in your cellphone to your
pc screen instantly and continue where you were without restarting
anything.
