Mid 1994: I had hardly heard about the internet, when I read an article about
Batmud in the games magazine. Later in the year I had a friend with internet
connection and started playing batmud.

Back then there was not real competition on internet gaming. I think there was
ZombieMud and Lord of the Red Dragon or something like that. So there really
was not any competetition. Batmud won with content straight out. It was
content, not really any other reason. I tried several other muds that I can
not even remember anymore. Those all were light in content and had little to
offer.

About year 2000 MMORPGs were rising, most of them had content issues, atleast
to my eyes. I tried some of themThese were light in content at that time also
and I stayed with BatMUD.

Years went by, MMORPGs came and went. While the ones that survived built more
and more content. To extent that they were competitive with BatMUD.

While I have not yet seen *all* in BatMUD in sense that I have not been at
Tiamat for example, I would say that I have seen everything that BatMUD has to
offer. I do think that this is the case with most of the old players, and it
should be. When you have seen it all it is time to move on.

MMORPGs are not just graphics and no-content anymore. There seem to be content
in \'em almost right from the start. And the ones that have been around for
years have lots of content.

If back at year 1994 there would have been the games I am playing today, I
wonder if I would have chosen to play BatMUD...

This all does not mean that I disrespect BatMUD or anything like that. It
still has the good things it had 1994, it still is in constant change, and
while most of the tunes might seem to be bad ones in players eyes they are
done to improve the game and they do improve the game.
