Today, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales resigned his office, under
mounting allegations that (amongst other things) he fired other government
employees because their political ideals did not mesh with the President's. In
a direct quote from President Bush, Gonzales had received "months of unfair
treatment" and his "good name was dragged through the mud for political
reasons". Gonzales, whose resignation was welcomed (and, in some cases,
demanded) by many Republicans and almost all of the Democrats in Congress, now
finds himself out of a job for political reasons. It is expected that he will
take a high-ranking job in the U.S. Department of Poetic Justice.
