For those of you unfamiliar with the design of atomic weapons: the first one
ever used in warfare (the "Little Boy" part of the Manhattan project, dropped
August 6, 1945) used the crudest form of fission reacion -- banging two pieces
of uranium together at high speed. Each of the pieces exceeded 20 kilograms in
mass, making it extremely unlikely that a weapon of such size could be wielded
by a mortal. Each of the pieces was "weapons grade" uranium, meaning the
proportion that was the reactive U-235 isotope was over 20 times (closer to 50
times, in the case of this bomb) more than naturally occurring uranium, which
is about as dangerous as any other rock. It is possible, but unlikely, that
"refining" in BatMUD does this, as the merchant tool belt does not have a
"centrifuge" setting. Finally, the two pieces were banged together at about
the same speed as any other bullet strikes its target. This is about six times
faster than any human being on earth has thrown a baseball, cricket ball,
javelin, discus, or anything else I could find a world record about.
The only weapon a human has ever swung that approaches the speed of sound is
the tip of a whip. I find it very, very hard to believe that a whip's tip
weighing the required 25 kilograms could be constructed, let alone swung at
the proper speed, by anything less than a titan or giant on 'roids. And, if
such a weapon of approprirate metal was made, it would suffer the possiblity
of a less lethal but (from my point of view) hillarious result called
"pre-detonation", especially in a flexible item like a whip. This would make
you extremely unpopular in what's left of your party, ss+, or pcity.

Ahh, yes, puny humans.. but, i've seen even small and weakly barsoomians
wielding multiple paingiver axes which weigh some ~30kg each. A giant can
easily carry 100kg of equipment without it affecting him much, im sure he
could smash a huge strike with a 40kg maul. And ofcourse, with weaponspeed
boon, im sure they could swing them very very fast! ,) And besides, its a
magical realm, the laws of physics as we of the mundane realms perceive them
might not work quite the same.
