Here's something to think about...
The Earth is 4.5 billion years old. That's pretty old. 4,500,000,000 years.
Let's say you live to be 100 years old, which is quite generous for a human
being. I mean, cancer could easily get you before 100 years.
During that 100 years you would be born, live, work, make friends, laugh, cry,
and do everything that would encompass your life before you die.
That 100 years that you have, well, that's only .000002 % of the time that the
Earth has been around.
What's the equivalent to that amount of time in your own 100 years? .000002%
comes out to about 63.11 seconds. (Rounding errors will occur).
Everything you work for, your friends and family, pets, accomplishments, all
of it, fits into the equivalent of 63 seconds of "earth time".

Now it all seems pretty meaningless. I wonder if the whole of human existance
will take up more than a few hours of time. Makes all those reports for school
or work seem pretty worthless doesn't it? I think I'll try to enjoy my 63
seconds a bit more now. I only have 45 left!
