so i figured i would break in the new year with some random thoughts. i am
very sad to see batmud slowly withering away. if you thought otherwise, you
are probably pretty delusional. the people who ahve taken care of the game
over the years have done a superb job. after almost 13 years and most of my
youthful years, i am still here, albiet rarely active. theres been a lot of
random posts lately about the 'state of affairs' in the game, so consider this
post a random non organizated babble from me.

things i wouldnt mind seeing.
6 max parties brought back. its damned hard to get 9 people together.
especially for us on the non europe side of the world. the game has devolved
into a offtank whack bash boring rep fest. there is no skill or creativity
required anymore. find monster, push button, melee melee melee profit. good
times. bringing back 6 man parties would allow for raiding to be a bit more
common. god i've killed most of the thingsi n the game, but id still love to
do raids once in a while, cause its fun.

a possible solution for bringing back 6 max parties: give us hardcore reinc
options. the game is on its last legs, people still come back though. i am
truly amazed at the amount of people that leave, but pop back in years later
and game for a bit. if all the older mudders heard that the playing field was
WIDE open, im sure some people would come back and be casual players based on
the amount of variety offered. yeah i know you can tell me straight up, go
play hardcore if you want hardcore reincs. yeah i could, but the player base
there is even smaller and i dont feel the need to program some bot to run me
exp till i can make some funky reinc.

then again, im not saying we should be allowed to just intermingle every
single guilds. setup some minor restrictions, but give us some more freedom
and flexibility. reincing is what makes the game fun, the thought of something
new, something strong that looms in the future if we grind hard enough. thats
what we play for. if suddenly we are given a bunch of new options by allowing
some guilds to be allowed in many backgrounds, suddenly there is a lot of
flavour again.


this is obviously a long winded post. and i could be drunk. i definitely know
gunk is. and as i write this, vacationing in sunny hawaii, i have batmud to
thank for the friendships i have made over the years that have essentially let
me travel a decent portion of the world. with that said, happy new year all.
