Templar guild really deserves to get the long blades skill. Trainable to 100%
also. If you google image search "Templars", all the paintings and history
about them, show them wielding swords. Swords were always the preferred
weapons of Templars.

funny, i tried searching for images of templars of faerwon but didn't find
any. So as far as i can see, there is no set historical template that templars
of faerwon replicates exactly. But hmm, if you just wanna mix & match some
realworld historic societies, lets pick some random servants of god, like the
fransescan monks with their vows of poverty!

Better yet, templars should really get their own banking system complete with
banknotes and whatnot! Maybe they could even train loansharkery etc.
And when it comes to weapons, why not take the D&D route where templars can
not wield pointed weapons but have to settle for mere bludgeons.

And dont forget, all templars must worship the severed head of bahomet down in
the secret temple of David (hidden right below the arelium bank!). And also
they must protect the forgotten but still living line of anipa who exist today
in some forgotten church in northern roth!!!
