This is not a response to Kimvais.

In the case you don't have the ability to think independently and you only get
your reviews of Windows 7 from Apple's somewhat stale television commercials,
Windows 7 is a competitive product with several features that MAC OS does not
compete with. If the analysis and experts are correct, Windows will regain
much of the market share lost to Linux and MAC over the past 5 years. Being a
fan of Ubuntu, I enjoy good MS bashing... but honestly the comparisons being
drawn to the launch of Windows 7 and Windows Vista/ME are just plain
ridiculous.

If you have access to the OS, I'd highly recommend giving it a try. I loaded
Windows 7 Ultimate (x86) on my wife's 5+ year old laptop (below minimum specs)
and found it ran like a champ. In fact, the performance is better than it had
with XP.
