To chime in here somewhat less caustically than Conquer has been.
(is it even possible to be more caustic?) Barb EP useage HAS been tuned.
Negatively. Barbs get the skill 'endurance' and there are weenite boots
available that also offer ep reduction. However for the last several
years 95% and higher (or so) endurance negates any benefit weenite boots
may have given. And then even more recently a tune to the venturers
way spell was put in place that drastically reduced the amount of ep
healed if in combat or shortly thereafter. I'd say that the whole barbarian
endurance useage has been looked at quite enough.

I do agree that barbs run thru endurance at a quite alarming rate,
especially when soloing, however if you do party with other players multiple
good things happen. If partied with bard and/or druid you can benefit
from their ep healing abilities. You are able to tackle larger monsters
with more ease and therefore earn more rep more easily. Also if you are
partied with other barbarians, you can spread the ep useage around a bit
and let things go longer before having to slow down for regens.

I also realise that alot of players would rather go the solo route and
don't like to party as often. Fine, but realise that Batmud is more oriented
towards partying than solo play. If you want to play solo then you'll
have to accept the limitations of the build you are in. Although with
proper ep management it is possible to solo a decent rate and keep that
rate going as long as you feel like it. You will, of course, have to
rely on other players to do this, namely alchs to purchace those lovely
blessing of tarmalen and regen potions, but with ranger fires and
camping it shouldn't be too difficult.
