From what I've gathered, the problem Acidia is having (and probably
many others) is basically this:

I've played this mud for 'n' years and I've paid myself my very own
player city where I have my own safe room and atleast a dozen of
locked doors before my inner sanctum where no-one else has ever
been. Now all I want is some peace and quiet and a possibility to
chat with people.

But the mud just won't leave me alone! Up comes clones, right there
in my inner sanctum, killing me! MCDemons there where no-one is
supposed to be able to get to. I've earned my place here and I
shouldn't have to eat this crap anymore!

And so on. You get the point.

But - in my opinion - that's exactly one of the distinctive features
of BatMUD. You can _never_ feel safe, you can never call something
truly your own, you can never depend on something to be
forever. There's always something that's able to get to you,
regardless of what you do to protect yourself. If not today, then
tomorrow there will be.

And in my opinion, that's one of the things that sets MUDs apart from
IRC - the world doesn't stop existing even though you don't want
it. Just because you don't care, it doesn't stop raining. Just because
you don't care, doesn't mean that you won't hear the partywipe on
Asmodeus. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean that you won't age
and get thirsty. And I hope that some day, some day there will be
thieves again, rattling the boundaries of those inner sanctums.

Now - I don't have a clue what's the opinion of the mattering
administration in this MUD about these matters - but this is mine. If
we want a safe place to chat, let's make a ChatMUD that's connected to
this through InterMUD and make sure that there is _no_ world there
that would offer distractions.

But me, I wouldn't swap this world for anything.
