Hmph, I wrote a short post as an answer, but when I reviewed it - it was
again a long whine telling nothing new. So I aborted it. I just figured out
a solution for this : Make it legal to create a trigger that runs from your
clone, with these specifications :
- You must be at your start location.
- It must not be a public place. Public as in middle of BC,
if you can even start there.
- It must be triggered with the exact message that comes when clones
are ... cloned (this way it can be monitored, sort of).
I would be really... really happy about this (and quiet).

From what I've observed, the Clones event kills way less than 1/3 of
the online population on bat. That means that atleast some players are
either able to defeat their clone or able to run away from it. I.e. it's
not an automatic death event.

As for running the event. Bat is an as-is project. You are entitled to
absolutely nothing by playing this game. If you don't like the fact that
someone runs the clones event sometimes, find another MUD for yourself. You
may have your opinion about how things should work and what events should be
run, but Bat isn't developed around Acidia. Considering how little you
progress in the game, and how little effort you spend in exploring new areas
or making exp, I really don't give a shit about what you think of some
specific event which may or may not (depending on your idle-time and skill)
send you to hell.

I'm not trying to make this game built around me. I'm trying (with
more or less success & discretion) as a very old player to state my minor
opinion how some things are badly wrong. I don't see the difference between
a minmaxer who spends his time making exp, from me who's sitting in a castle
jsut watching people go by. This is my playing. Role-playing as they might
say.
A player is a player is a player. Now, please see the event from a mortal
side. Try something like that every now and then, you get zapped, few of your
previously edited files get undone and you have to spend the rest of the
boot away from your workroom. See?
Now please dont spend anymore of your coding time shouting around why
you don't give a shit. Seemingly you do, answering my posts, and stuff.
This isnt the ideas-wanted, this is flame and that's what I'm doing here.
Flaming about something that is wrong. From a _roleplayers_ point of view.

You've stated your "minor opinion" around this issue quite
a lot of times already. We are aware of the fact that you
don't like the event. We have chosen to retain the event
despite your opinion about it.

I see a big difference between a "minmaxer" who actually
plays the game and an idlechatter. The first group actually
may lose some exp when getting killed by their clone, and
hence can be compared to "a wizard losing his files". The
second group doesn't really lose anything - well, they might
have to take a ress (or pray) at somepoint. But that's
hardly a loss. Since you seem to belong to this second group,
I place very little value on your opinion about this matter,
this whole thread would be alot more valid if it came from
someone who actually loses something due to the event. So if
this event really causes such a huge problem, why not let one
of the affected people state about it. We've heard quite enough
from you already.

And there is absolutely no roleplaying in sitting in a pcity
and debating Star Control 2 or finnish passports on the
suomi channel.
