So tarken was caught robotting and his punishment was 2weeks of ban plus as an
added bonus, his stuff for sale was "donated" to other people. Now how is
that punishment? Thats so lame it practically beckons people to robot. 2weeks
ban might well be worth of who knows how many weeks/months of robotted
materials! And what if he had most of his robotted stuff in his chests, not
for sale?

How about you reset his merchant quests, reputations, gained skills etc for
better punishment. I mean come on! that is just pathetic as far as punishment
goes. Forcereinc him into something unpleasant. Ban him from merchants, or get
creative and make a unique feature that every single attempt of his in mining
will end up in a cave-in or grue and every single attempt to build chests or
alloy etc would end up in a fumble.

You can do better than this shina! i've seen how creative you can get in your
guilds and areas and events! Don't take the easy way out in punishment!

It's not like it's a first time offense either, clearly his first punishment
taught him nothing. I can understand being lenient on a first time offender,
but Tarken has done it before, and I recall him spending an hour or so telling
me how he would never ever do it again and had learned his lesson when I had
been calling him a cheater. Clearly he can't resist the temptation to cheat
when he is a merchant, so I wholeheartedly support Glaurung's suggestion to
ban him from merchants.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy, vindictive, old bastard. That doesn't mean I'm wrong
though.

1) For starters, I don't remember the administration giving you any details
regarding this incident or the last, so any conclusions or judgements you make
are therefore biased, unsupported, and idiotic.

2) Secondly, I want you to read the first line again since there is a 87.5%
chance that you are drunk and you believe that BatMUD is some sort of
democracy.

3) My ban length is relative to the amount of play time I incur. For someone
who lives at home, works a seasonal job, and is no longer in school, 18-20
hours/day compared to the 'normal'(ish) 4 hours a day would be equivalent to a
2-3 month ban. I can assure you that porn is already boring, the house is
clean, I beat every XBOX game I have left, and hopefully sorting everyone's
books in the family on their bookshelves in alphabetical order will take more
than a day.

4)

4) I don't plan on returning to merchant when (or if) I return for a very long
time. So you can all take this shiny pineapple I robot picked too and shove it
in your tight virgin butt.

5) Referring to point 1, I don't recall you knowing how much legitimate effort
and wealth I am losing.

6) Ipso facto sanctions are not cool.

7) You are all ape.

Cheating is cheating, regardless how little effort and wealth you gain in the
process.
Getting caught cheating a second time merits an increase in punishment, if
only because the first punishment evidently wasn't enough to dissuade you from
cheating again.

Or you could just not cheat, then there would be no argument.

No one here is saying what he did was RIGHT. Understand that these aren't the
old days! Mass IP banning, level zaps, and whim removals are stories for
campfire nowdays. With all the MMORPGs, new 64bit first person shooters, and
real life events....it's safe to say that this community is for a 'select
few.' I'm not saying that we shouldn't punish ones that break the rules, but
in this case the punishment fits the crime. If you disagree - help
archwizards are always right

And this forces you to BotMine and thus making this a very uneven playingfield
?

And you say repeat offending cheaters belong ?

A few weeks for a REPEATED offence?
Not in my book but its not me dealing out the punishment.
Maybe an arch should deal out a real punishment and then blame his cat :)

Unfortunatly for you Lavitz you do not hold a title which allows
you to implement the punishment you speak of.

Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be flaming about it would I?

A cookie to Blackstar for stating the obvious. Seems he has more in common
with Bmoa than I thought!

Just pointing out how little loudmouths get worked up over things
out of their control. Try not to ruffle your feathers over it too much.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Things being out of your control doesn't
mean that you can't promote change through protest and discussion. I would
rather be a little loudmouth and have nothing change despite my efforts, than
sit back and do nothing and have nothing change BECAUSE of that.

You are welcome to disagree with my opinions on punishment in BatMUD, and I
would welcome another opinion. Maybe I am not seeing the full picture and you
will enlighten me and change my views, just as I was hoping to do with the
administration of the game. I also apologise for the comparison to Bmoa, but
you have to realise that comments like "Unfortunatly for you Lavitz you do not
hold a title which allows you to implement the punishment you speak of."
contribute nothing.
